  • Need Help ASAP!!!

Hey guys well my tank is going to be built next week, well thats when James said it would start.

Anyway i need some help here, do you guys think 3 closed loops (all sequence darts) are going to be enough? i mean each dart has its own little PVC thing built, with 6 outlets for locline- so i will hid it like Steve West did, but mines a staight line with 6 peices of locline coming from the PVC...

then one closed loop is on the back wall with 4 outlets...

then i have the return which will have 2 outlets....

NOW do you guys think thats enough?

or should i add 1 more pump? so say 4 closed loops? (all darts still) and 1 return?

or do you think my orignal plan of 3 closed loop pumps and 1 return is enough?

this is for a 275 gallons ALL SPS tank....(60"x44"x24")

    what do you think?

    thanks!

    Nick

3 Dart's are going to give you alot of flow in there. Seem's good to me. If you find that you need more, you can always replace one or more of the Darts with a bigger pump (the new Ono line looks good). That way you don't have the hastle of yet another CL under the tank.

    Good luck,

The 3 darts will give you a turnover rate of about 38x on the closed loops, plus your return. That is plenty if you do it the right way. Whenever you go to multiple outputs from one pump you are going to lose flow/velocity. Make sure you step down the plumbing to keep the velocity. Splitting it into 6 lines from one pump will need to have 1/2 - 3/4 to be affective. I'd forget the other pump and get an oceansmotions.

Thanks guys, what other pump are you talking about Madison?

Also i was going to go with 1" plumbing, but you think 3/4" would be better? it would be easier to plumb with the loc-line being 3/4"...... what do you think?

go with 3/4" plumbing or 1"

i will have to go with 1.5" bulkhead then right after that i will step down to 3/4" or 1".....

        what do you think?

        thanks!

by "other pump" I meant the 4th Dart. I would go with 3/4". By the time you split it 3 ways going out of 1", it isn't going to have much drive behind it.

              alright 3/4" it will be....

what pump would you use with the ocean motions?

I keep reading about those eductors/penductors, what about those? It seems like people who use them love them. Personally I hate plumbing so I just got a buncha Streams, which I'm moving from the magnets to the Tunze rocks (should blend in with the Reef Ceramics).

Just wait til you see your tank. James' work is ridiculous. It is the most detailed thing I've ever purchased.

You should check out Travis' tank - I think the website is www.spsobsessed.com or something like that. It is the most insane tank I've ever seen as far as multiple closed loops. It should give you some good ideas. His tank is also Envision - he gave me the idea for a black acrylic bottom which I love.

edit - here is his website http://sio.midco.net/cdshelton/website/

I have seen that tank, its crazy how much plumbing there is!

Its a nice tank, to bad he has to tear it down all the time for those fish he keeps on adding, haha.....

anyway James is great to deal with! Truely top notch! i cant wait to get it! the 18th ot 19th i think is when it should arrive.

anyway i hope these 4 pumps are enough.

                    thanks again everyone.
