Photoperiod and color?

Been reading this thread on RC http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...5&pagenumber=1 where a number of people claim they decreased the photoperiod of their halides, just running floros the rest of the time, and got better color from their sps as a result.
Just wondered if anyone got any opinions/experience with this?

If your corals are really bright but pale when running your lights an appropriate amount of time, you will undoubtedly think that your corals appear more vivid when they darken up due to increased zoox. conc. Its a matter of preference.

Allistar, I ran mine 10 hrs a day before but dropped them to 8 hrs 2 months ago... Same colors but less electricity...
