  • Skimmer has gone nuts has this happened to anyone while using zeovit?

Hi there my skimmer for the last 2 days has been overflooding the collection it just went nuts i didnt do anything out of normal just about 4 hours before my scheduled weekly water change the skimmer went nuts and hasnt stopped since i did the water change as usual but no change i had to cut down on the air input so it could be controlled but its not producing any skimmate it seems that the consistency of the water changed somewhat but i dont know what caused it i've been using zeovit for about 2 weeks now and im following the dosing regimen by the book with great results so far i dont know if this has happened to any of you but im really confused with the skimmer,by the way its a venturi one,any ideas of what might has caused this would be grealty apreciated.

    Thanks as always

Yeah it's happened to me once before zeovit and once since zeovit. I don't know why it does it but it stopped for me when I put my hands in the sump to check things out.

I've put my hands in the water to see if it stops but no luck it just keeps on flooding

It happened to me once too, later I realized it happened because I had used a hose in the tank that had been on bathroom floor before and had some detergent residue on it.

The reason why it stopped when Madison put his hands in the water is probably due to the grease on his hands.

Wash your hands after you eat french fries Mad

maybe throw some french fries in your sump then

Try removing the collection cup, wiping down the inside of the skimmer, of course open up the return all the way for now also.

Ok done that for now its under control i cleaned up the skimmer last week but cleaned it again last night and after a couple of hours started producing now some very dense skimmate and not to mention the smell of it yuk but the skimmer stabilized maybe some weird chemical reaction or something i'll keep you posted.

Thanks for your help guys :biggthump:
