  • Drip rate and bubble count

I am just wondering if you guys could post up your net water volume, light or heavily stocked and what your drip rate and bubble count are out of your Ca Rx.. Also could you list your params dKH, Ca, Mg... Just wanting to see what most guys are running...

    Peace and TY, Jeff

jeff, i dont go by drip count. I do it the easy way. I go by the PH level of the effluent and I let the drip go free continuously in a stream like fashion. I keep my PH at 6.5. Some people say its not good to do this because it wears out the CO2 solenoid, but I have never ran into this problem. It sure beats having to count all those drops. My Alk has been stable this way at 8 for the longest time.

My effluent flow around 5 l/h and I the pH in the CR chamber between 6.25 to 6.3, I run the CR 11hrs/day and this has no problem to hold my alk at 7.4~7.7

                  250 net gallons
                  Heavily stocked with calcifying creatures.
MRC CR-6 Dual reactor ARM media
Drip rate is just slower than a steady stream. Approximately 80 ml/min. Bubble rate too fast to count. Effluent ph of 6.6 to hold steady at 8. If I run the ph lower, I can slowly raise the alk of the tank, used mainly after a water change since I don't adjust alk in fresh mixed. Adjusting prior to adding seems to create lots of build up of calcerous coating in the brute container. I change 40 gallons a week so just easier for me to crank up the reactor for a couple days to make up the difference.

Oh yeah, 20 lbs media lasts around 7 months, and C02 bottle (10 lb'er) lasts about 6.
