  • Strawberry Banana Millepora Experiment no more.

I was trying a little Millepora experiment to have an outcome of a strawberry banana colored millepora into one, but I failed as the mille's were too close to the sand bed and my conch's kept knocking them down. Anyhow, im posting this so you guys can get the idea and maybe try it out. The mille's were growing into each other without any problems. I got frustrated when I would come home and see them on the floor and had to realign them again. Here's what I had going on...

Very neat Edward. Can you move them somewhere else and continue the experiment?

Madison, I sure cant. I was going to make it a suprise for later but I have no more room elsewhere. These two color up very nice under 10k's and those spots have all been taken. Trust me, i have looked. Another worry is that milles grow pretty fast and clean out anything in its path.. thats why I dont like placing them close to any other corals.

Aquaspacelight with 3 250w DE HQI setup like this:

          AB 10K | Phoenix 14K | AB 10K

          Then I have 2 60" 140w Super Actinic VHO's and a 60" 80w T5 Blue. Its the perfect color in my opinion.

WOW, I'd love to find frags of those guys.

I could settle for a millie tank, I mean theres so many colors and they are awesome as it is.

I'll have my new 60g cube FINALLY at the start of this year. I might try something like this while I don't have many corals..

Alright Edward maybe you might have an opinion about this.

I would really like my tank lighting to try to immitate yours. I have to change my lighting in 2 months because it will have been a year since my bulbs have been in place. The problem is I don't have the same setup as you but would like to immitate what you have done with your lighting.

Here is what I currently have over my 40 gallon:

                1x10K Ushio 250 watt bulb

                2x96 watt actinic vho's

                2x96 watt 10K vho's

Currently my lighting is just too yellow for my taste. The 20K look is just too blue for me plus I can't run them because of my ballast. So with the setup I have do you have any setup you think would work to immitate your lighting? By the way I can't add any new type of fixtures to my setup because my canopy doesn't have the room.

Thanks for your time and suggestions.

I would say get rid of the 10K VHO's and replace them with T5 Blue's. That would be pretty close to what I have.

T5 will be great combination with actinic VHO. I think..
Or you can add more actinic VHO if you like the its look.
