Personally, my visits to RC has dropped from about 5x daily to maybe about 1x/2days. Aint much fun without the zeovit crowd.

Agreed, I maybe visit RC 2 times a day where it used to be around 5-6. Good to have a place called home now.

what's sad is I believe the zeoheads had penty to offer the other forums on RC. Not just the Captive Oceans forum. I know I don't spend nearly as much time on that site since they went tactical .

That's an excellent point Chad. It's a shame about what and how things happened, but we are very fortunate to have this site now. Gary did not do this to try and take members from RC and I just wanted to point that out. In no way are we asking people to not visit RC, or any other board for that matter. There is a lot of good things on RC but we are very glad to have you here and we thank you for your support.

I don't think they even think they made a mistake. Personally, I feel some of the mods over there believe zeo users are the root of everything that goes bad at their board, and they are better off without us.
You can tell by the way that whenever a warning is given, it will be after a zeo user did something, or every time an example of something that should not have been said is given it would have been said by a zeo user.
What about that flame war between Habib & Bomber. Worst flaming I've seen. But were they warned - no. It all depends who you are.
In fact, when a warning was given towards the end of that big flame war, the example quoted by the mod of the kind of stuff that's not wanted, was something that I said. Felt like pointing out the hypocrasy there and then, but nah, I'm a zeo user, wouldn't take much to get banned.
That's when my suspicions were confirmed about the moderators.

I think, let's strive to ensure that this new zeohead home will not be like them.

If we continue to be what we have been doing in Captive Ocean forum and now here, I am sure this will be a very pleasant place to visit for many. I have seen too many forums (not necessarily reef) that started very well but as time goes on, it becomes like a war zone or become very biased or commercialised advice.

Each of us here plays a very important part that the "zeohead culture" of warm, friendly, patience and courtesy is maintained at all times. Then this will be "THE PLACE" to visit for all reefers.

I have unlearned and learnt new things from Zeovit. And it is pretty exciting...

                          Greetings All !

As someone who considers himself to be a "zeoheretic" (... "committed" to the system/community, and sometimes "disturbed" by its dynamics ...), I submit this for your consideration ...

Hubris: noun. Excessive pride, arrogance. [Gk., violence.].
(The American Heritage Dictionary, 2nd Edition)

Hubris is one of the worst destroyers of rational perspective. I hope we're not going there. Others have inflicted their hubris upon us, and I hope we don't feel compelled to return the "favor" ... JMO.

I don't think they even think they made a mistake. Personally, I feel some of the mods over there believe zeo users are the root of everything that goes bad at their board, and they are better off without us.
Granted ... their perspective on the "cost vs. benefit" equation clearly shifted, but I think it's much more systemic than that. Surely the owner/operators of RC cannot be happy about the way things have evolved recently ... and not just with regards to the ZEOvit system "controversy". When a moderator ... A MODERATOR! ... starts choosing up sides, and starts acting upon that choice, a destructive process has been engaged (IMO) ... and folks, it ain't got nothing to do with ZEOvit. Tip O'Neil was correct, "All politics is local."

... the zeoheads had plenty to offer the other forums on RC.
Indeed ... the expertise and overall goodwill of this community is staggering ... little wonder a few people seem to feel threatened by it somehow ... but predators play a vital role in any ecosystem. I hope the ZEOvit community will continue to choose to reflect upon, and advance from, a process of objective inquiry ... even when that process sometimes feels like groping for diamonds in a stream of toxic sewage.

Each of us here plays a very important part that the "zeohead culture" of warm, friendly, patience and courtesy is maintained at all times.
This should be a "sticky" somewhere ... nice.

I have unlearned and learnt new things from Zeovit. And it is pretty exciting...
While the cutting edge is where you bleed, it is also the place where you tap into the awesome power ... dare I say "Magic"? ... of discovery. There's never been a more exciting time to be a ReefKeeper.

Many thanks to Gary and the ZEOTeam for their efforts in facilitating the magic for the rest of us ...

                          ... impressive indeed ... .

                          JMO ...

                          ... let the floggings begin ... ... .

GaryW... I always enjoy your postings and I'll add your use of words is exceptional. I know them all (most) but you put them together so well.

I'll add by saying that I don't believe I've ever heard a ZEOuser say that this is "The Only Way to Fly".
