  • Interval of rock change variance

I'm pretty sure I'm in phase 3 now, dosages of all zeos are much reduced, other then AA which I've increased.
Thus far I've been changing rocks 6 weekly, but the tank does not seem to obviously need it, like it used to.
Just wondered if the interval can be stretched out?

Alastair, I know people in phase 3 they change the rocks only every 10 weeks. You should notice it in the corals if the change is necessary. If the tissue gets darker and the corals loose colour its time for a change.

Nothing dangerous with using the stones until the coral respond.

That's good to hear, and thank you for your excellent advice, as per usual!

Alastair, the exhausted stones do not do any good or bad in your tank. If they are exhausted and still kept in the system, they act as any other stone. Just accumulating duff, but if you use additional fresh material you will see a positive effect

          Very interesting.
I've actually been transferring the old stones to my frag tank, that is all it needs to stay sparkling clean.
