greetings, i'm new to zeovit and need some guidence.
gross water= 180 + 40 sump. net maybe= 170 ga.
ca reactor yes . po reactor last used 1 yr. ago
results,misery. no uv, beckett driven skimmer rated 250 ga.
po4 today= less than .03 ppm (saifert) no3 less than 2ppm (saifert)
ca=480, alk=8.0, mg= 1375 (oceanic salt) i'm running bare bottom
lights = 3- 400 watt 14k (2 months) 2- 175 10k (7 mo.) 2- 140 vho
actinic (4 mo).
i have mostly sps, a few zoo colonys & pesky shrooms that don't go away.
tissue colors are mixed dark & light.
we have been running 3 yrs, x dsb. bare sinch last nov.
rocks have been from 10 yrs. up to last yr.
i have been keeping sps for a while but i get to a point
where some just don't survive long term. others the color changes
to a less desireable shade. no supp dosing. problem areas are
tips are bare on some colonys, slow tissue loss on bases of some others
likely cause are either alk spike. or too clean of water to fast
via phos reactor filled w/ carbon.
all new test kits (salifert) just started zeo
dosed 6 drops bak, 6 drops food 1.2ml. start 2 i am using only 1 liter
of zeovit in a madison reactor running aprox. 100 gal
using 1 cup of carbon passive in sump. temp 79~81 max (chiller)

Hi Mr.Pluto[interesting handle]

The keys to success with SPS & ZEOvit, are being patient--fight the urge to dose more in order to achieve results in less time; do not deviate from the ZEOvit guidelines & mix methodologies from your past experience; maintain stable parameters.

Your parameters appear to be satisfactorily, although at KH 8, I'd recommend decreasing your Cato around 430. For this period-cycle, your dosages also appear fine. I'd suggest dividing your total Start2 quantity into 2-3 doses/day, ie. .4ml Start2 3 x's/day. Cycle your zeo-filter with a simple peg-timer, 3hrs "on" & 3 hrs. "off". This provides for a more even reduction of N03's & P04's. On the first exchange[in 4wks] post for dosing adjustments as there will be recommendation changes to the above regimen. Watch for zeo-excess, cued by the development of a thick green to brown film accumulation on your panes or slime formation on the LR. If this occurs hold all your zeo-dosing for 2 days, then restart your all dosages at 50% reduction in quantities. Bob

thanks bob, i forgot to mention i have been cycling 3 hrs on & off.
i will split up the start 2 dose at your recommendations.

Hi Mike the interval period is at 3 hr. cycles--ie, 3hrs running the pump & 3hrs. with the pump off. Bob
