  • Fish Agression HELP!

Hey guys well i added a small 2" copperband butterfly today and my blueface angel is being really agressive towards it.

I mean the copperband's tail is all torn up.

i got him from a fellow hobbist getting out of the hobby and i introduced him to my tank at about 4ish today and now at 7 the copperbands tail is all torn up and he is hidding in the top right coner of my tank where there is a stream pump and the drain to my sump. he is up there so the angel cant get him.

    what should i do?

i want to add more fish, but if this blueface is going to pick on everyone its going to have to go.

    what should i do?

    thanks!

    Nick

ok, its time to WAIT! I think you need to hold back on more fish purchases and get that tank up and running. I know you want more, more, & more... why dont you use that money and take your beautiful girlfriend out to eat at a nice restaurant instead?

Haha, i already did that one tonight.

anyway what should i do about the current situation?

i want to get that conspic for my new tank too, but with this blueface i do not think it will work.

i am thinking about taking the blueface out, but i have no clue on how to get him?

what should i do? i was going to take the blueface out when i did the transfer to a bigger tank, but now what should i do at the moment?

should i taek the butterfly out?

      thanks!

Nick, I'd recommend leaving the Blueface if he's not longer a nipper, & foregoing the Conspic as Edward mentioned. The Copperband is prolly a goner by tomorrow Bob

He is not nipping anymore, but i would like to add another 2-3 fish for my new bigger tank.

i really love this blueface, he is becoming a real personable fish. he follows me around the tank and he is not nipping amore. He is eating atleast a good 1/4 of a sheet of nori a day.

Do you think that the blueface would harass new tank mates?

i would love to add a black tang and maybe 1 more fish....

what do you think? just try to get fish bigger than the blueface?

i will NOT add anymore fish until i get my new tank up and going good.

But what do you think? will the blueface harras the black tang? or other fish?

i mean this copperband is small at about 2".

          what do you think?

          thanks guys.

I guess the main thing is i would like to add a couple more fish to my new tank once its done and i do not want to spend 200 bucks on a black tang to have the blueface kill it.....

i have no clue what to do, i love my blueface and its become my favorite fish.

it even trys to bug my foxface, its like it does not care about the spines......

the foxface has been in the tank about 2 weeks and the angel still bugs him...

i would ideally like to add 2-3 more fish to my new tank and do not want this angel to harras them, anythoughts?

Should i get BIGGER fish than my angel? like get a black tang thats like 4-5 inches? my blueface is about 3.5-4"?

            anythoughts Bob or anyone else?

            thanks!

Tangs will be fine. Just go slow on new fish with your beautiful corals. Bob

Oh i will Bob, no more new fish until my new tank is setup.

Do you think a larger copperband woudl fair well with the blueface?

what other fish would be ok with it?

i was thinking of doing a school of those threadfin cardinals. would they be ok?

i would like to add that black tang and maybe a hippo tang.

i am guessing the blueface would pick on the conspic wouldnt it?

should i go with bigger fish than the Blueface? so like get 4-5" fish?

would a 4" copperband do better thank this small guy?

                thanks!

Nick, the cardinals will work but require frozen brine shrimp--I've never had these but all cardinals that I've ever had would not eat flake. Just forget the Copperband, but if you must, it should be acclimated in the new tank before the Blueface is introduced. Bob

ok thanks, what about the tangs? i was thinking of getting them right about at the same time as i get the new tank that way its like all the fish have a new tank....

i hear the black tang is mean though is that true?

i was thinking of getting a hippo tang and maybe that black tang if its not too mean, or a chevron or maybe a mimic tang.

anyway i take it i should get the tangs as big as the angel right?

and i take it that basically any more angels are out right?

                    thanks again!

Nick, how's baseball? How's the GF? Tangs & angels will get along, albeit a few skirmishes at first but the tangs will give in to the Blueface quickly. Bob

Unless it's a lg. clowntang or it's cousins, the Blueface will grace your reef beautifully as the lg. angel usually do. Sorry to hear about the labrium. Better to concentrate on your pre-med studies. Bob

yeah, i just got back from orentation at college and let me tell you i am going to have to be on top of things to get into med school. although the school i am going to has about a 95% success rate of people that are serious about pre-med getting into med school.

so i hope for the best, hey what med school did you go to? you are in indy right?

hows the new house and tank coming?

what tangs do you think are peaceful in your expereince or opipion?

                            thanks!
