  • when to start adding optional zeovit supplements?

Today is my first day in stage 2. I would really like to start adding some of the optional supplements but am wondering if it's too early. I'm pretty impressed with the whole zeovit system, and purchasing the supplements gives me an excuse to drive over to see Eric at fragfarmer and buy some frags I can't afford

I've got a pretty wide variety of stuff in my tank--acros, birdsnests, montis, a pavona, chalices, a favia, an acan lord and a "mystery" acan, a scolymia, a trachophyllia, a micromussa, a goniopora, blastos, clove polyps, zoos, and ricordeas (hope I didn't forget anything). If it is ok to start using the optional supplements, which should I use?

Hi, at this point in ZEOvit, I would only add AAHC, 1 drop 3x's/wk. The other zeo-supplements can wait especially if one does 5% WC's/wk, Bob

What about the LPS aminos? The main reason I'm asking is that, since starting zeovit, there has been a major deflation in my scolymia. It is possible that it is due to an injury, as there has been a spot that I noticed a couple of weeks ago that has some mesenterial fillaments "leaking" out of it, although they were hanging out about an inch when I first noticed them and they are almost completely retracted now and the coral still isn't expanding; also, it's possible that I didn't notice it for the first four weeks of zeovit, but really unlikely. It expanded amazingly when I first got it and up until about the time that I started zeovit. The main thing that leads me to think that it isn't the injury is that I once accidentally knocked over a really large piece of live rock (about twice the size of a softball) that landed directly in the mouth of the scolymia, and it expanded back to its normal size in two days. Will the depletion of nutrient levels cause this, as it hasn't seem to adversely affect my numerous other LPSs?

Yes, AALPS will re-expand your coral, but use only 1 drop 2x's/wk. Bob

Thanks. Is it common to see LPS deflation, because I didn't notice anything in my other LPSs? I do know that scolymias are a bit more sensitive than most LPSs, so maybe that's what caused it.

Hi, besides the trauma, did you increase current or lighting? They do not too much of either one, Bob
