  • New Tank & ZEO.

Quick question about nutrient reduction in a new tank.

Lets for the sake of this discussion say I set my 60g cube up tomorrow. I then add 30lbs of LR. What would be the negative effect of doubling or even tripling the ZEOvit doses to completely drop the nutrients in a day or so? I could see where there would be problems with livestock in the tank, but if its just LR, is there anything bad that can happen?

    Thanks

Hi Sean, OD of the zeo's results in diatomaceous accumulations, with slime being deposited on the LR's, LS, & panes. Bob

What about leaving the reactor on with increased flow and 24/7 constant flow? I know you mentioned on a thread before that would remove nutrients quickly and could cause tissue loss on SPS; in this case, what side effect would it have?

Sean, I'd run the system as if you had corals in it. Remember, there will be nutrients to remove from the inner rock crevices, especially P04's, therefore, cycling the zeo-filter is recommended. Bob
