  • I'm getting bad.......

Hey guys i have noticed that i am getting bad,

as most of you know i am upgrading to a 275 gallon tank (60x44x24) this will take place at the end of august as soon as the tank gets here from James at Envision Acrylics.

Anyway i thought i had my obession under control, i figured i wouldnt get anymore livestock until the upgrade, you know to see how many corals i need and see how the fish do.

well yesterday i picked up a nice 4" foxface Lo to see if it will take care of this STUPID grape caulpera thats taking over my 180. and i got a nice 3" granulosa a wild one too.

anyway if all this i headed down to a LFS today just for some simple mysis shrimp, brought the girlfreind along too...

well we get there and just am looking at things and i decided to pick up a small frag of zoos to see if my angel (blueface) would let me keep them and then i see these gorgeous 3" blue tangs, my girlfreind even said she would buy one, but i think i did the right thing and passed on them, haha,

BUT it got me thinking, what other fish should i add the the 275?

    right now i have,

    2 ocellaris clowns
    1 labouti fairy wrasse
    1 lineatus fairy wrasse
    1 rhomboid fairy wrasse
    1 orange back fairy wrasse
    1 blueface angel
    1 foxface lo

now all of these will go in the 275.

but what other fish should i go for? i was thinking of a small school of something, but anthias are out because the wrasses, maybe some of those long spinned cardinals like 5-7?

BUT what other fish should i go for? i was thinking a conspic angel and maybe a blue tang?

but that would be 5 large fish?

i am going to use a BK 300 internal to skim the tank, but what do you think?

what other fish spark your intrest?

what do you think would go well in the tank?

i know i would like to add atleast the conspic and a couple smaller fish.

but what do you think? its only 5 feet long, BUT its almost 4 feet deep too.

    anyway what do you think?

give me some thoughts, my next tank upgrade will be 4 years and it will be an 8 footer and like 3 feet wide, (man thats bad i am thinking that far ahead)

anyway let me know what you think!

    thanks guys!

    Nick

I LOVE Vlamingi tangs, my fav. tang..but again I am not so sure if your tank will be big enough for one... and no I dont have a vlamingi tang :-)

I think a feisty Anthias like the Lyretail would be OK. These are very robust fish and greedy eaters. Just acclimate them in a separate tank and make sure they understand what fish food looks like first

i havnt had too great of luck with copperbands in the past...you almost have to have zero competition during feeding time or...well.........

well they are slow eaters that seem to "inspect" their food before eating it IME.

From what I've read you can feed them different foods. I don't know many hobbyist who try to feed their copperbands the same as their tangs.

I've heard something about fresh mussels do best for copperbands and it also helps their eye sight.

You may want to look into that, that way you can drop a cracked mussel in and then do flake for the tangs. Should prevent you from having too much competition.
