  • Bleaching of Stylophora

I observe since few days a tissue recession from basis of all Stylophora/Pocillopora sp. in my tank.

I don't understand what it occurs.

My zeovit additions for 450l :
    - Amino Acid = 4 drops/day
    - Zeostart2 : 1ml/day (0.5 in the morning and 0.5 in the evening)
    - Zeofood : 4 drops/2*week
    - Zeobak : 4 drops/2*week
    - Zespur : 3ml/week

    But no addition of StyloGlow...

    ??

Pascal, I would highly recommend to redose ZeoSpur2 after longer intervals 3 – 4 weeks. This should help if it is zeo related. Other dosage looks good to me. If your tank becomes nutrient poorer I also would recommend to cut down the ZeoStart2 dosage for example to the half.

      I dont understand... I dose zeopsur2 as 3ml/3 weeks?

Do you mean you dose ZeoSpur2 every 3 weeks ?

          yes...
But the weekly dose of zeospur in my tank is correct comared to KorallenZucht Guide...

Pascal, if so this should not bet he problem. Seriatopora/Stylophora/Pocillopora are very delicate in low or high salinity. Have you made it for sure your salinity with all the other parameters KH, Mg and Ca is correct ?

Is there anything else you dose or have you made a change in the salt brand ?

              All parameters are OK...
I will measure the salnity this evening but tested last week (1024 with refractometer)...
              And no change of salt....

Thanks, if everything was checked, I would try to lower the dosage:

                - Amino Acid = 2 drops/day
                - Zeostart2 : 0,2 ml/day (0.1 in the morning and 0.1 in the evening)
                - Zeobak : 2 drops/2*week

I would drop ZeoSpur2 and ZeoFood until the problem is fixed. The combination of ZeoStart2 and AminoAcids gives a very similar result as ZeoFood, which in this case is not absolute necessary.

                  Thanks G. Alexander,

I report you the future observations with the new doses...

You may also want to recalibrate your refractometer. This helps a lot!

Refractometer and pHmeter are recalibrated weekly.

                          Stop zeofood / zeospur2

One week after changes of zeo products, the result is bad :
Reduction of colors of acropora, increase of brown algae in the glass and rocks...

But a decrease of tissue recession from basis of Stylophora/Pocillopora sp.

I cannot what think and make...

my stylopora bleached as well under direct M/H, but after moving it to a less lit spot it recovered nicely and regained its colour. some stylo's just can't take to much light!

yes it is sure but my corals are present for a long time in the tank and it is impossible to move them...
