  • 1st change of zeolite

    Hi,

    Just change my zeolite yesterday.

    Tank : 450gal
started zeovit on 9 Jan 04
    zeolite : 3litres
    zeostart : 3ml daily
    zeofood : 12 drops daily
    zeobak : 12 drops daily

    Now:
zeolite : 6litres with 1 litres of the old batch and 5 litres new
    zeostart : 3ml everyother day
zeofood : 20 drops everyother day
zeobak : 20 drops everyother day

    So what's next?
    Pls advise.

Hi Stanley, & welcome home If your coral appearance & no excessive slime fornation are fine, then your new zeo-dosing is fine. If your net total water vol. is >600g then 6ltrs of zeolites is correct at 600gph, although I believe you have two zeo-filters with 3ltrs each, then each filter would have 300gph thru them. If your total net is 450g then 4 1/2 ltrs of stones would be correct..You may wish to dose Start daily at 1.5ml total & then split that into 2 doses of .75ml each. Multi-dosing daily Start has been found to cause this side-effects, better more effect. How much carbon are you presentlt using? thnx. Bob

Ai ya Sir, yup, i think i put 2 new packs of zeolites on each reactor and mixing with 1/2 litres of old zeolite. Actually i have 450gallon of net water.

Ok will dose start with 1.5ml daily and spit in 2 parts instead of 3 ml daily.
I am using 1litre of carbon with 500ml pack each on the overflow in my sump. They are from chemi pure.

BTW Bob, so where should i go from here? any other new dosing? Am i still in phase 1? pls advise.

Stanley, good then 4 1/2ltrs of zeolites it is Be very sure the flow rate is correct at ~250gph thru each filter. You're underdosing carbon a bit--add another 1/3ltr for a total of 1 1/3ltrs. If you do not experience any problems with excess slime build-up or coral recession, then stay the course as outlined above for this round of zeolites. If you do have any visual cues of excess, then hold all zeo-doses for 3-5 days, then begin again at 50% reduced quantites of Bak/Food?=/Start. Bob

Hi Stanley, there's a thread on the 3 phases of ZEOvit here in this site, which defines the phases in ZEOvit. You're in phase1 & most likely will not enter phase 2 until ~ the 3rd round of new zeolites[3-mos]. Bob
