  • Removing Phosphates and Coloring up acros

I did a test last night for phosphates because I spotted a very small strand of hair algae. Since I have alot of current, not alot of hair algae was spotted.

My readings came out to 0.8! I really want to get this down to 0 or at least 0.02. What can I use do solve that problem? I am about to begin Zeovit in a couple weeks so, should I wait and have Zeovit remove the phosphate?

I've also been noticing that my acros turn brown and I really want to solve this problem asap. I know that my phosphates can be the reason for turning my acros brown, but does alkalinity do the same?

    Here are my readings:
    Ph-8.2
    Ammonia-0
    Nitrate-10
    Nitrite-0
    Calcium-300-I can solve this problem
Magnesium-990-I can solve this one too
    Alkalinity-10-Should I go lower?
    Phosphate-0.8
    Salinity-1.023

All acros are in a 75g tank with 2x400w MH lighting.

    Thanks

Do water changes using RO/DI water and a good quality salt like Oceanic/Tropic Marin/Aquamedic. Reduce feedings. Skim wet. Reduce bioload if our bioload is too high.

The above will help with your high phospate problems while waiting for Zeovit. HTH

I use the IO salt and only feed mysis to 1 fish which is a Lg. Copperband Butterfly.
The bioload is small-medium and the skimmer is set to skim wet.
How big of a water change will I have to do? I was thinking a 10g water change. Is that enough?
      Thanks

Yup, maybe do 10g water changes maybe once a week? That will help with bringing the PO4 down. You must try to minimise the input of po4 at the same time. Maybe you can even try putting in a little rowaphos in a bag to help reduce the PO4 and silicate levels but remember you cannot use rowaphos when u start with the zeovit system.
