  • Sulawesi cultured corals ?

    Hi All,
Lately I have noticed some very nice corals coming from Sulawesi and Java. I was wondering if anyone here had any experience w/ these. Has anyone heard how they adapt to aquarium life or are they known for any pesty hitch hikers. Thanks in advance for any comments.

I know a lot of European reefkeepers get their corals from Indonesia. I think Alexander was one of them.

Thanks for the reply Edward. I'm kind of on the fence right now on whether to buy some things or not. Found a place that has some sweet stuff but I'm moving in a little over a month and I can't decide whether I want to add to that nightmare, but man they are nice.... maybe.

Chad, over here those Indonesian aquacultured corals are very popular. There are many exporters producing them. Some produce really nice stuff others not. The quality is also very different. They are not easier to keep like wild corals because they grew up in the sea. Here you can find some pictures from such a farm:

I get lots of stuff from Indonesia too. The ones from Tonga and Fiji tend to be prettier but there is nothing wrong with the Indonesian stuff. I think in the Indo Pacific region Indonesia is by far the biggest coral exporter.
