  • The birth of a monster

The schematic for the new tank. The back panel isn't right. The bulkheads need to be at least 3" in to make space for the steel stand.

Looks good Chuck. How come you aren't doing the overflow like you did on your 180? That, imo, is very cool.

    BTW, you have email

Got the email. Noted. May take you up on that offer.

Well....That overflow IS cool, BUT I'm not planning on pushing all that much water through the overflows and I want to put the tank all the way against the wall so I can't have external boxes. One of those holes in the overflows is for wires (dry tube). Only gonna push 3-4000 gph through the overflows. Target 6 or so turnovers.

Heinz, I dunno. Maybe 5x2x2? Maybe 6? We're still drawing out the under the tank space utilization. Everything has to fit under the tank. I can't remote anything b/c of the space issues in the house.

That's going to be one beast of a tank

Is it going to be a FOWLR?

                Timon,
even currently I've got some corals and clams in the tank. HOWEVER, the fish are a "no fly zone". They go in the tank first and whatever can coexist with them can also be in the tank. So the sps is the question....zoos are out. Clams and softies so far are in.

aaahh a true democracy, the fish get to have their vote on what goes into their tank

Chuck, there's something inherently wrong with the above statement. If you find the sick, twisted, warped phrases, I will give you an extra recess periodBob

Chuck, what will the total volume of water be in that monster of a tank and the equally monstrous sump? Your fishes are definately going to be much much happier in that bungalow of a tank. (not that they are not happy now!)

Uhm, fkadir, that's a good question. I THINK the tank is like 560. The sump is 5x2x30inches. Or rather that's the current plan. Maybe fill 16" of it? I dunno.

Chuck, from what tank builder did you buy your tank from ? its obviosly a custom tank, just wondering who you chose to buy from

Heinz, AAT, they do the large tanks for clearforlife. I'm just working a connection to get it direct. Saves a few bucks. Also reduces the number of people between me and the people doing the tank--it's the 6 degrees of separation thing. Otherwise, I can't be as sure that they understand the hole placement etc....
