  • Phosphates

    Hi,
Now in 3rd change of rocks and still have a phosphate reading of around 1ppm (salifert), putting my reactor on a 3hr timer isnt really an option as once the pumps turned off the water will drain out of the diy reactor leaving the rocks exposed to air.

Ive been dosing .80ml of start daily, 5 drops of bak/food 3 times a week and amino acids 5 drops daily.

Was just wondering if its a good idea to use a po2 remover such as rowaphos etc. to lower the po2.

Stocking levels arent high (1 small sailfin tang, emporer tang, 2 common clowns and an orchid dottyback) and fish are fed a small amount of pellet food every other day in my 190 gallon tank

    Cheers

Hi Gary, you'll get there. Some just take longer Plz. check & recheck these areas for P04:
    1) product water--it should be P04 undetectable/<5 TDS
    2) P04's of Ca Rx effluent--if positive, consider dripping effluent thru Al3-based container
    3) decrease AAHC to 2 dosings/wk
    4) increase Start to .5ml 2x's/day. Bak/Food doses are fine.
    5) pump clean the zeo-filter several X's/day if possible.
    6) be sure to use 2ltrs zeolites at flow of 800l/h. Consider shortening exchanging interval of stones to 4wks. for the next 2 mos.
    7) do 10% WC's/wk.
    8) do not use RowaPhos under any circumstances. Bob

      Thanks Bob,

Just a quick question though, do you mean decrease the start dosage to 0.50 ml, at the moment im adding 0.80ml which i thought to be about right but gladly looking to stand corrected

      Cheers

Gary, my post maybe confusing. If your dosing .8ml total/day, increase to 1ml/day. Bob
