  • Closed Loop Question

Im thinkin of doing a closed loop on my 180g when i set it up its a AGA tank i do not wanna drill it im looking to use Black PVC so it hides into the back of the tank im gonna have it suck from the tank and return to 10 diffrent spouts 4 in the back bottom for keeping detruis out of theere and then 2 on each side back corner front corner then 2 in the front middle i was gonna get a OM 8 way but dont wanna spend 300 something dollars on one so im gonna just use a external pump and PVC my 2 questions are :
    1. What External Pump should i use ???
(Thinking about a a sequence Hammerhead)
    2. Where do i get Black PVC ????

With 10 spouts you are going to need one hell of a pump, actually I think you'll need multiple pumps to drive that.

How much GPH are you looking for per spout?

Say for example you want 750 GPH per spout you'll need a 7500 GPH pump, and that's not counting headloss.

the savko PVC is good stuff, use it myself

Nice pump, I'd get two. I think you want more flow than 550 GPH per outlet.

Yes I've read the whole thread
I think if you have a closed loop with 10 outlets with a 5500 gallon pump you won't be happy with the amount of flow it will create.

I'd either have less outlets or more pumps

You can buy black abs plastic piping at any Lowe's store. That's what I used for my closed loop, didn't want to drill the glass like you so I just used two pipes running inside the tank against the back wall for the intakes and am returning them to three sea-swirls around the tank.

Nick, I think it's worth it using one of the Oceans Motions (4 or 8 way)? That way you have times of high flow combined with slow water movement off and on.
