  • How long did it take for your brownouts to get color?

I received a brownout Valida colony from a friend of mine. Actually, it was browned out except the tips had some slight purple on them. I put the colony in my tank about 3 weeks ago and since doing so the purple tips have gone away and the coral is now just a light brown. When I dose Spur2 it turns to a lighter whitish/brown. Just curious how long it usually takes to start getting color back?

Brad, you as know, those sequestered organics/nutrients do not lend themselves for testing, therefore, this question can not be answered in a absolute timetable If your other corals are colored & your system is stable[parms/zeo-dosing], then 3 wks. should be an avg. time. But again this will vary, based on available traces, intensity of lighting, & nutirent-poor watersBob

Arent A. valida notorious for BO, and sometimes it takes a long time for them to come back, even in a nutrient poor environment?
Atleast that is what I thought I seen somewhere. I dont have this species so I can not say for sure though

when my tank was completely stable it would take 3 weeks on average. Now that my tank is stable again, I have a will colony that had browned, has a lot of tissue loss is now coloring up Its great to see a coral that was dying start to get well in fron of your eyes

I had a valida colony that was 10in across and it took it 4 months to color up. just give it time and the zeo products will do their thing. I think most of the deciding factor is your nutrient levels. If its low it wont take long, a little high will take longer but will work eventually. A little spur goes along way with coloring up brownouts. Kevin
