  • How much time before you saw changes?

I started dosing PIF, FE, and Macroelements one week as of Monday. I dose the Macroelements as suggested by the zeoguide and I dose PIF and FE 3 times a week. So far I haven't noticed any difference in my corals with dosing these after one week.

My question is how long did it take you before you started seeing changes in when you dosed these and what changes did you notice the most?

Hi Brad, the visual improvements, especially in the coral tips is immediate, within the first day or 2. This is more apparent when one is in phase 3, or latter phase 2.
Are you also dosing AAHC? Bob

I wish I could help Brad, but I dont dose these Im still on the fence when it comes to all these supplements---The only two other that the basic four Ive used are SPur2 and AAHC. The rest im kind of skeptical on---just my opinionif they are really needed to see great results. I say this because before my recent debacles my tank was looking amazing and thriving--could it look better with these? maybe but enough for me to notice, I do not know

I started using zeovit on 12/12/04 which I believe puts me in the middle stages of phase 2. I also dose AAHC and Spur2 along with the other 3 that I mentioned before. I noticed better incrusting with the AAHC and much better growth with Spur2. However with the other 3 mentioned before I haven't noticed anything so far. Should I up my doses of PIF and FE or continue to wait? Maybe I am hoping for changes to quickly? I also have not noticed any overdosing effects associated with PIF and FE even though I am dosing 3 times a week. What would happen if I followed the instructions on the FE and PIF bottles?

Brad, you certainly should try higher doses of PIF/Fe with the endpoint being darkening of your corals instead of brightening colors. Also dark film accumulation or slime on the rocks will be visual cues. I would try not to stray too far from the guide recommended doses for the above supplements.
Maybe, a better course for now would be consideration for switching to Start2 & only supplement AAHC/Spur2 for a month or two. I guarantee color improvement with this combination. At this point[2mos], then retry PIF/Fe/ME for fine tuning as you should be in phase 3 or very late phase 2. Bob

Brad, if your system does not lack the elements you are dosing (i.e. PIF and iron), there won't be much of a change in appearance (JMO). Especially, if your system has not reached a stable low nutrient environment.

My system appears to be pretty low nutrient. My test kit reads 0 phosophates. I know this can be a bit misleading and so next time I see my zeovit dealer he is going to test my water with his hannameter (spelling?). Then I will know for sure.

I still think some people get confused about stages.. I see people saying they have changed the zeoliths 2 times and they think they are in stage 2 or 3.. I think people need to realise it depends on the nutrient load you started with.. Also with others starting new tanks it depends if you are using fresh live rock, old live rock or cooked live rock... I have been on zeo for 6 months and I am just in late stage 2 or very early age 3.. I started with LR I had had used for yrs so it had many nutrients in the rocks... I am not saying this to you Brad but I am just making a broad statement... Nutrient level bases the stages NOT the length of time you have been using zeovit or the number of times you have changed your zeoliths...

                  Peace, Jeff

Yeah~ I think Jeff is correct. I have been on zeovit for 6 months and Finally Most of
parameters are close to phase2 lately.

I would say I am in phase 2 and have a little ways before phase 3.
