Any body ever have any problems with rtn after treating with spur 2?

Understand that I do not use the full zeo program, but pieces of it are being used...I had two acros rtn within 24 hours od dosing the second treatment, no other changes were made except for the lack of great skimming and spur 2..

The treatments were 12 days apart, i actually only sed 3 1/2 mls on a system that has approx. 250 gallons actual water volume........

Not looking to blame, I was warned to be very careful with this stuff, but just trying to see if any others have had similar results..........

    Thanks, John

John- i do not know the dosage rate per gallon, but i think Bob states you should dose about 50% of the recomend then if nothing bad happens (STN, RTN) then go to 60% and go up to you get to about 80-85% then go to 90% and so on till you get to where you need to be, so color stays that way for i think 7 days?

      Bob does this sound right?

Hi John, I recommend 1ml/100g net on the first dose, observe for changes, then with the next preceeding times, do incremental Spur2 dosing as Nick mentioned. I lost a Acropora at a dose of 1ml/50g net on my first attempt. I've had no loses since I backed off. My dose now is 8.5ml every 2wks. on a system of ~450g net
John, after your first dose of Spur2, did your corals lighten & if so for how long after the initial dose? If > 7-8 days, you dosed again too quickly. If our corals stay light for >8-10 days, then the dosing interval needs to be more than 2wks. Remember, we must allow time for the corals to restore the zoox. population, as they begin to darken slightly. It is not possible to keep the corals always light between Spur2 dosages.[depleted zoox] Bob

          Got it Bob,

Sounds like I may have just have just did too much, and maybe not enough time in between.

The corals lightened up initially, and then seemed to lose the initial lighter look at about 7-8 days, I then waited till day 10...

I mmay just hold off for a couple of weeks until I get the system back where I want it, once the new skimmer arrives, I may take a closer look at things...

          Thanks for the input...................

Edward, generally[you're the exception] it is difficult to give a safe dose for everyone, as Spur2 IS very potent, but correspondingly, very effective, thus my recommendation for much lower dosage initially, than the ZEOvit guidelines. Bob

John, sorry to hear about the loss. Was there anything different with those two corals from the others (e.g. brown coloration, new additions, etc.)?

                    Thanks Gary,

I know I was warned, the only really difference is the fact that they were both wild at one point, I have had them for some time though, they started as clippings from wild colonies...

I did not have total losses, they just rtn'd at the bases, after my last water change, they seem to be better, or at least have slowed down on tissue recession............
