I started zeovit the first of the year, but some of my corals really reacted negatively. Here is the info. I use IO so I am always fighting Mg and Ca levels and that may be the problem. Right now I am not sure when to restart Zeo. I have started to dose Mg and Ca a couple of times a week, and I may change salt or mix IO with Oceanic 50/50.
1. Gross water volume of your complete system (incl. sump etc.) 160 gal
2. Net water volume (incl. sump etc.) 120
3. Are you using a CaCO2 reactor or other technique Bionic
4. Are you using a PO4 reactor (how long, how long ago, etc.) No
5. Are you using Ozone No
6. Are you using UV No
7. What skimmer are you using (type, rated water volume)
Deltec APF600 and Tunze 3160
8. What are your actual PO4 and NO3 levels .05 10
9. What are your actual Ca, Alk and Mg levels 375 7.7 1230
10. What filtration method do you use (refugium, DSB, Miracle Mud, etc.)
small refugium
11. Type of light (Watt, color temp, how old, etc.) 250 DE AB 10K 4 months
12. What corals do you keep Mixed
13. Tissue color (light or dark) Dark
14. How long has the tank been running 4 months
15. Why do you want to use the ZEOvit system reduce nutrient levels
16. Any supplemental dosing (type, amount, why, etc.) only Bionic
17. Live rock (how much, how old, etc.) In tank 4 months, cured 4 month prior to addition
18. Any present problems Since starting zeovit lst a couple of corals
19. Problem description (tissue loss tips, tissue loss base, diatom bloom, algae, etc.) Polyp ejection on a WC acro colony, loss of polyps on several frags
20. What test kit do you use (how old, recently switched, etc.)
Salifert(?) <4 months
21. Present dosing, amounts and intervals (ZEOvit, ZEObak, ZEOfood, ZEOstart, ZEOspur2, etc.)
Added 1l rocks, 400 ml carbon, 4 drops zeobak/ Zeofood and 1 ml Zeostart on 1/1/2005. Next day observed cotton balls on the tips of 1 colony. Waited until 1/7/05, coral looked to have recovered, dosed again. Coral again responded negatively. Stopped dosing. Coral continued to decline. Removed stones 1/15/05.
22. Other water parameters and water stability (salinity, temp, etc.) 1.024-5, temp 79.5-80.5, ORP 350-37
Any thoughts on the best way to restart zeo would be appreciated.
