An apiphony about dosing

Hey guys currentlly I am dosing bionic in my tank to keep alk up, not using Ca b/c Oceanic is taking care of that If I figure out how much my tank evaporates a day (1 gal, ect.) could1 I add the alk buffer to my auto top off ro water, so it will dose for like 3-4 days? I figure if it is dilluted in ro, and dosed in smaller incriments it will make the tank more stable, I could also throw some Mg in there to supp as well. Is this just a pipe dream or will this work?

Sean, it can be done but not together[precipitation] The main problem is drip control with the buffer plugging your drip lines, "settling out" effect resulting in irregular concentrations or dumping too much buffer into the system with dire consequences for your corals. I do not recommend this. Bob

I used a Liter Meter lll for months to dose my two part and additional top off water.
The LM3 would stay accurate to about 90% for 3-4 months before needing recalibration.
I took the weak DYI two part receipe and diluted it 100%. I did need to pinch the end of the tube at least once a week to keep it flowing free.
Dripping "IV style" as Bob said will be a continual battle to keep the drip constant.

yeah but if its dripping in just when water evaporates doesnt mean that the alk is goin down does it ? isnt the alk being used up like cala ?

Well its not the whole 2 part system just the buffer part, so there will be know pricipitation. My whole Idea is to keep alk more stable than adding it 2x's a day and bumping it up 1/2 a point each time it does it. The reason why I thought of this is because the bionic gallon jugs have to be dilluted with ro

Sean, mixing the Mg with buffer part will result in precipitates. As Steve mentioned, a dosing pump could be implored but dripping/gravity could be disasterous. Bob

ok so if I just use the buffer in the water and not mg it will work correct? I can still just dose Mg separately

Got my answer from RC---Seach funtion actually worked for me--- In one of Randy's post he said it is fine if only adding one part
