Ok non zeo related. A frag has tipped over and my clam bit down on it. How can I get the frag out of the clam? Are they both going to die. It was a frag of bali green slimer, and it is a croacia clam.

    Thanks

Tim, I had this happen a few weeks ago.. I had it happen a few yrs ago also.. A few yrs ago I got in there and pulled the frag out and it hurt the clams mantel.. The clam survived though but had a piece of mantel missing for about 2 month until it grew back.. I let it go a few weeks ago and the clam managed to get it out itself and no harm was done to either.. I would let it go but thats me..

heh, I wish I would of been that patient. I held the frag while the clam opened up a little, and then pulled real quick. Looks like the clam will be fine, but the clam did crush the top of the frag good. So my next question is should I frag the top of the frag, because I don't think it will come back.

Tim, if the frag is not to big, the clam should be able to expel it by itself. I would not recommend you try to fish it out with a sharp object, you may do more damage than good. After the frag is out, leave it as it is. A healthy frag should heal fairly quickly, so I wouldn't frag it unless things get worse. Just keep a real close eye on it.

Tim, I would not frag it either.. If the frag was in a good state of health you would be surprised what they can really go through. I have had a single polyp turn into a nice piece before...

          Peace, Jeff

Thanks guys, for all the help, they both seem like the will return to normal soon, So I will just let them heal on their own.
