    Nick,

I have always been told to stay away from flake food and pellet food. Apparently they are loaded with Phosphates. I have always used frozen cubes and have had great success. I use frozen brine shrimp. I let it thaw and then I drain the excess juices before I feed. Also, do you run a calcium reactor? If so, make sure that you soak your media in RO water before using it. The media can release phosphates into your water. I soaked my media for about 2 months before I used it. I changed the water after the first month. I think that I remember hearing this advice from G. Alexander on this board. HTH

Nick, if your corals are healthy, with the P04 testing + & algae acumulating, let's increase Start to .7ml 3x/day daily. Also pump the stones 3x's/day daily. Your bak/food dosage should remain the same. Be sure to completely clean the entire inside of your skimmer. If you're using a AM Turbofloater 1000, you may need to consider a skimmer upgrade, one rated for 3x's your vol. Decrease AAHC & PIF to the same amount as now but only dose these once/wk. Do this until the P04's test-. Bob

Curt,Barbara, as Wade mentioned soaking the Ca media in RODI before use helps removes the dust,P04's, etc. This can be accomplished over several days, changing the RODI water daily. same with carbon & the zeolites before use Bob

I knew about the rocks. But not the carbon or the media.I have always would rise the carbon. But not a soaking. It's amazing how you can be in the hobby many years, and learn something new all the time It seems we are always learning in this hobby.

And that's not even mentioning the Zeovit System.

Nick, yes. assuming you do not have a quick build-up of brownish/green diatom film on your panes, or tissue-tip thinning out. Bob

Hi Nick, that's fine. Increasing Start frequency in smaller quantities just promotes the specialized bacteria of bak to be more productive. The zeo-dosing can be tailored around one's schedule Bob
