    Hello Italian friends.

I am trying to get some info on Elos tanks. I was thinking of getting a system 160 in clear glass. I was thinking of buying the stand/tank/overflow set-up and using my Bubble King/custom sump.

Any bad things to say about them? They are beautiful tanks and I'm looking for something with a "look" that I'm unable to find in the U.S. and the Elos seems very nice. A similar Deltec system would cost much more than the Elos.

Please let me know what you think, if the equipment is good. I know they utilize a very interesting overflow system, any advice on that?

    Grazie!

    David

    hi!
I'm happy that people so fare are interested into the italian Elos, anyway i have to tell you that we cosider it a little too expansive , but the tanks are really nice!

I know only about some problems with the silicon used after many years... i hope they have solved this problem.

I see many Elos tanks here and I like them... but they are really expansive for me

        Hi,

The aquarium is one of the very good products built by Elos. As materials dimensions and concept i think the quality is at the top. Unfortunally the price is also high and if this may be a problem.....better to change idea

However if you have that good equipment (bubble king) i think you may combine the Elos tanks for a full quality system

        Bye

Hi Bob, its not a big one. I decided until I have a fish room I don't want to be over 150G. I've had bigger and I just can't keep my wife's beautiful furniture covered with all kinds of equipment. So I'm trying to decide between their 160 Pool or 120XL. The 160 is 64x24x24 (~150G) and the 120XL is 48x32x20 (~130G). I'm strongly leaning towards the 120XL. It will probably be clear glass, they use 12mm.

The overflow is extremely "trick". Its impossible to explain without pix. No plumbing, extremely compact. There is even a dry compartment in the overflow for tubes, wires, whatever you want so you don't have to go outside of the tank, and it feeds directly into the stand.

I've wanted a high end braceless tank for a while. I have also wanted a nice modern stand. I hate 99.9% of the stands I see. They just don't work for me. The only cool stands I've seen are in Europe, which led me to Elos. I looked at Deltec but to be honest they weren't anything I couldn't get custom made and EXTREMELY expensive. I like the Tunze and RV said he could get one (they're on the Tunze US site) but shipping was too much. Elos had pretty much everything I'd been looking for aesthetically and functionally.

Someone will make a LOT of money if the come up with turn key, modern, high end tanks in the U.S. And not that stainless crap Oceanic is putting out. Most high end reefers aren't web nerds like us and there are tons of folks I meet at LFS that gag at the furniture at the LFS.

I'll post lots of pix when setting it up, I should have it in early Feb. They do sell entire packages, they make everything - but I'm only getting the tank/stand since I already have almost everything else. I might ask them to make me a T5 fixture if I can't get an ATI. I want a 8x54W and the Photon Linea only comes in 6x max.

I'll post lots of pix. Here is a thread of a guy with the standard 120 (48x20x20). You'll be happy to know he uses ZEOVIT!! His tank is incredible and he sent me some updated pix. One of the cleanest tank I've ever seen.

Well I got my Elos 120XL System in and I couldn't be more happy with it. It is a true plug n play system. Within 24 hours of delivery it was uncrated, set in place, filled, sump connected, skimmer on, top-off system on, LR in. I needed a Phillips head. No Home Depot runs. The sump is great. I'm very impressed with the skimmer as well.

The system is approximately 48x32x20 and is AWESOME for aquascaping. I could NOT be happier with everything, including customer service. Elos will do very well in the US, IMO.

                    Pix to come later, promise!

                        Ciao Blureff,

I bought the "System" so it came with the NS1000 skimmer. It also came with the Osmo top-off, and I love my Tunze Osmolator but I'll give the Elos a try. I will probably buy the Elos ca reactor, it seems like a very unique design.

I will probably try the Biotopus II and possibly a lighting fixture as well.

I did have a custom H&S skimmer made for my Elos, its a A200 1x1260 that is cut shorter to fit underneath the stand. Similar in size to the Deltec AP701, but I prefer H&S for the acrylic neck. I have to say though that I am already very impressed with the Elos NS1000 skimmer!

it compliments, the new models then go enough good, those old ones that have had many defects
I have had time ago the rea120, have had to make of the modifications and cosi went very well, but the new versions are truly beautiful
biotopusII and a true jewel of technology
it would make it appeal to to see me of the photos also in the time and to feel your opinion on the technical equipments

                              Hello Miguelito,

you made a very good choice, i think the Elos tanks are one of the most beautiful glass tanks you can find, with the last modifies also the skimmer anch calcium reactor now are working well.

                              Bye
                              Good reefing.
