For online translations please use the Links at the end of the Thread.

ZEOvit.com is proud to introduce the 2nd Dream Tank of the Quarter. Broli Jacopo of Brescia, Italy. aka brulz has been chosen to showcase his beautiful aquarium for 1st Quarter of 2006.

The tank was established in May 2003 with high quality live rock (65Kg – 143lb) and CaribSea Aragonite (8cm – 3in). After 4 months, I introduced my first animal, 1 sarcophiton, some xenia, 1 sinularia (I kept it only for 1 year), then I started gradually with SPS corals.

    ZEOvit Products

    ZEOfood7: 4 drops per day.
    ZEObak: Not used.
ZEOstart2: Not used (I’ll try soon).
    ZEOspur2: Not used.
ZEOvit Amino Acids: 6 drops per day.
ZEOvit Potassium Iodine/Fluorine: Occasionally when necessary 1-2 drops for 2-3 days.
ZEOvit Iron: Occasionally when necessary 2-3 drops only for 1 day.
ZEOvit Stylo-Pocci-Glow: Occasionally when necessary 4 drops the first day, 3 drops the second one and 2 drops the last one.
** All of these products are dosed after the lights have been switched off 3-4 hours (in the night). The protein skimmer is switch off for 15min during this time. **

    Other Miscellaneous Maintenance

ZEOvit High Quality Activated Carbon: always in sump (change monthly).
ZEOvit Zeolites: 1.1l (change every 6 weeks and shake daily).
Salt: Elos & Tropic marine Pro reef (15% water changes are done on a monthly).
Ca Reactor media: Aquacare Turbo-granules 98% + Grotech Mg media 2%.
    ** No PO4 remover media used. **

    Controller:

Aquasmart (www.limulus.it) is used for driving the light timer, the Kw, the tangential blower, the chiller, the tide, the heater and the Co2 Calcium Reactor. The Aquasmart also allows controlling of tank parameters through the PC and therefore through Internet!!

This controller drives 16 outputs with a maximum of 63 devices with DALI protocol!

    Ca Rxtr:
Turbo Chalk Reactor Unit 1 (www.aquacare.de). I’m very satisfied with this reactor.

    Kalkwasser Stirrer:
Deltec KM500 driven by a 2.2l/h dosing pump. I use a double protection for the “dangerous” Kw. The dosing pump is driven by a Elos level sensor device which is on a timer by the Aquasmart controller (10min every 15min from 10.00pm to 8.00am).

    Reverse Osmosis:
The RO/DI unit is a self made equipment with 6 filters: 1 pre-filter (5micron), 1 carbon filter, 1 carbon block filter (3 micron), 1 75GPD Filmtec, 1 post filter and 1 DI filter. With this method, the conductivity on exit is approximately 0.2-0.8 microSiemens/cm.

    Water Circulation:
2xTunze Turbelle Electronic 4000l/h driven by Tunze Multicontroller with wave and nocturnal calm simulation. The Aquasmart controller simulates the tide, the wavy sea and the calm waters between high and low tides.

    Cooling System:
Sfiligoi Superflite chiller driven dy Eheim 1250 pump and low noise tangential blower. The tangential blower switch's on by the Aquasmart controller at 27.6 C°. If it fails to start the chiller a different controller will kick in.

    ZEOvit Filter:
Deltec FR 509 driven by Hydor L30 (1200l/h) shaken 1-2 time per day.

    Protein Skimmer:
H&S 150F2001 (850 l) driven by Aqua Bee 2001/38W. The protein skimmer is set up for wet skimming. I’m very satisfied with this skimmer!!

    Fish Feedings:
I use the Elos Svm (approximately 5gr per day).

** It is very important keep low nutrient waters, especially if you have a tank with 13 fishes like me. As you can see all my fishes are fed correctly and they have bright colors. The protein skimmer is the main accessory to prevent polluted water so it is necessary keep it clean! For this reason I clean it every 2-3 days. **

    LETS GET PERSONAL!

    Occupation?
    I'm a student in Economy.

    Family/Single?
I'm not married and no kids.

    Other Hobbies?
My hobbies are skiing, snowboarding, scuba diving, technology and the aquarium!!

Are you a happy ZEOvit user?
Yes I started 2 years ago and it's very powerful. It helps me keep a low nutrient system with crystal clear water which is this reason it's very important pay attention to detail as to much dosing may cause the corals to go into RTN.

What/Who got you into the reef hobby?
I have started in 1994 with a biological filter, with 5 actinie (anemon), 1 cladiella, 1 sinularia and 4 fish. Then 3 year ago, I've changed the entire tank and system. Now you can see the new result.

    Last coral and fish acquired?
I don't remember.. It has been a while since last purchase.

Is energy saving a concern for you when purchasing equipment?
Honestly no. I use an electronic ballast for 3 HQI lamps, but only for the stability of the color during the lamp life..

Who do you call for help when you have problems with your aquarium?
First I research off the internet (reefkeeping magazine and forum, ZEOvit forum, acquaportal.it forum) and then I discuss solutions (that I have just read on internet) with my great friend Gabriele, my favorite shop owner www.acquariomaniaonline.it ( promotion)) ). And generally we find the right way.

Have you ever dived or snorkeled and seen an open reef?
Yes!!! Red Sea, and Maldivian Sea.. and would like to see Polinesia, but it's very far from Italy.

Which is your all time favorite aquarium(s)?
    With no doubt...
www.oregonreef.com is the best tank I have ever seen. It has outrageous dimensions, light, coral, fish and the aquascape structure is beautiful. Also the equipment is first class and everything has been studied at the last detail!!!

    SPECIAL THANKS

I am very thankful for the Internet and the knowledge sharing we exchange and in particular these forums: acquaportal.com, zeovit.com, Reefcentral.com. I also wanted to thank Gabriele of Acquariomania (www.acquariomaniaonline.it) who has been with me throughout my reef keeping experience.

One of the most amazing tanks under 100G (48x20x20 ~80G)! His corals look incredible with that bioload - keep the tang police away. Here is a picture of the sump, I had emailed Brulz before to get some info on his tank builder.

Check out the cool ca reactor and the bead like media!

    http://www.aquacare.de/1meer/e1meer.htm

I didn't know Deltec made Zeo reactors. I wonder if I could convert one of my FR509's to a Zeo reactor, just need a new top?
