For those that haven't used it.....check it out!!!!

This thing is pretty cool. It will tell you how much water your sand is displacing, how much it costs per day (electricity) to run your tank and a load of other cool stuff. Thanks for getting it all dialed in Scott.

    Greetings All !

But what are all the other factors? 90s,45s, and all the different pumps..
As to the 90' and 45' stuff ... all we're talking about is friction, but it is a slightly different equation from the linear equation. As to pumps , review the output performance (gph vs. head pressure) to make the calculation. The differences within the different categories of pumps is not all that different. Bewteen categories is another issue ...

    Definitely not me

I may be a college kid, but I'm been programming since middle school. Programming just kind of comes naturally, it's like a puzzle that needs to be solved.

    Greetings All !

There are actually a staggering number of books that address these issues ... most written by engineers who deal with equations the way we deal with our corals ... it's kind of spooky ...

I suspect the one Madison is referring to is:

    Aquaculture Desk Reference
by LeRoy Creswell (edited by Frank Hoff)
    1993
    ISBN 0-9662960-3-6
Currently published by Florida Aqua Farms Inc. USA

Another of the most convenient sources I've found is ... strangely enough ... The Aquatic Eco-Systems , Inc. catalog ... the "tech tips" inserts are actually pretty good.

    Aquatic Eco-Systems, Inc
    http://www.aquaticeco.com
    1-877-347-4788

As far as head pressure ...

Head: The amount of pressure a pump must work against during operation. Total Head = (feet of vertical lift) + (friction).

    HTH.

    Ok thanks Madison

I'll try to get my hands on it and do a little work for the site.

Sean, there is a book that has all these formulations to figure out gph, head loss, etc. I forget the name, but if you looked around you could find it and it might be useful

I'll do what I can from the calcs on RC, but if you(anyone) can list formulas and inputs I can make the code.

I have no problem with that.

Scott, tell me when we can have a rematch on a less n0obly server.

ahh its all in good fun, sean is just mad b/c I killed him 5 times and he killed me 1 hehe..

But really why re-invent the wheel.

as to the coding part, I really dont have time, with work from 8-5 come home feed my 15 month old, spend a couple hours playing, bathtime, then reading time, then bed time. My family come first so I dont have time to code for fun I wish I did.
