  • BK Skimmer, Which one?

    Hi all,

I'll be upgrading to a 200G system in about 6-12 months, and have finally decided on a BK skimmer.

Which BK can anyone recommend? Ideally I would like one I can use on a bigger setup in the future, say 350-400g.

    Thanks in advance

I do think that my old 300 External could handle a 350-400G, especially if you can gravity feed it. It was absolutely solid white. Obviously you could always go bigger, but I think this would be good.

I agree that the 300 EXT would be good for you. It's only $150 more than the 250 EXT, so you might as well go ahead and upsize.

That is what I did on my 300G tank that has a total system of 475 gallons.

You should go by YOUR preferences

Both have their pros and cons and and your particular set-up and preferences determine what is the best choice for you.

Some pros and cons are listed on this page:

I personally prefer an external skimmer. You need to have room for it. If you do, it is easier to access than internal skimmers.
