Protien Skimmers??????

Is there a big difference in performance between an internal & an external H&S 150-2001 skimmers? The height that I have available under the tank is the problem. I have"26.24" max..

Mild differences. One an external can be directly fed from the overflow (that's the best water to feed the unit) and the externals pump may not be submerged avoiding added pump heat to the system.

i really wanted to know if the internal could pull the gunk out as well as the external

Basically yes it can. It is the same airflow, the External can just be adjusted for a longer contact time. If you run them side by side, unless you gravity feed the external, you would not notice a diff in the two. For ease of use and set-up the Internals really do perform.
