Anyone here have experience with Tunze skimmers? Their new DOC 9020 looks interesting. . .

They are very compact units and fill a nice niche in skimmers. The newer units are more powerful and are more sump frienldy then earlier version. The 9020 is basically two of the 9015 skimmer connected. The newer 9015's are going to come in with the 9020.140 collection cups. What is the size of your tank.

      Thanks Brian.

I have about 110gal total system volume. . .I'm running a Euro Reef CS8-1 in sump right now. It's the old style with a screw-down collar and it's a pain in the butt to clean as I fill the collection cup every day.

I've been toying with the idea of a new skimmer, but if I bite the bullet I want it to be a high-end unit. On my short list are the Deltec AP701, H&S 200-1260, Grotech HEA200, or the Tunze 9020.

When you say Tunze fills a niche in skimmers, what do you mean?

Tunze makes great internal and compact skimmers skimmers, it would be my choice for a sumpless softy or LPS tank.

For an SPS tank I would go with the more aggressive skimmers.

Bob, I agree with Timon. I use a Deltec, but for less money, Brian at Finsreef can provide you with a H&S pinwheel which in my opinion is as good as the Deltec.Bob

The Tunze skimmers are a niche, because they can be used intank or in sump. They are a extreamly compact design, and work in many situations where a small footprint is needed. The new DOC line is a much more agressive skimmer than the previous models. I keep the 9002, 9005, and 9010 in stock, but have not got the 9020 in yet. Most of my customers will opt for a larger H&S when it comes to that price point.

              Hello

I have recently upgraded my tank from 240L to 360L. I have Schuran JetSkim 100 and I'm interested in Tunze 9010. My Schuran is very noisy. Are those new DOC skimmers quiet?

they seem to take about 2 weeks before they get quiet, not dead silent but ok, if they keep been noise longer then 2 weeks tunze will replace the pump ,

I have a Tunze Comline and a Schuran Jetskim 120. I can tell you the Tunze is almost silent while the Schuran 120 sounds like a cross over between a flushing toilet and a low flying F-16.

What about output of both skimmers? Whitch one is better?

I think the Schuran is the winner here.
