Any comment on Aqua C EV-240 skimmer for a 4ftx2.5ftx2.5ft tank?

Heard that EV-240 is a lousy skimmer? Any EV-240 user here?

The EV240 is not a "lousy" skimmer. It can be tempermental, but in general is a reasonable performer. You typically don't need quite the huge pump to run it like a beckett, but the pumps are usually larger than what you need for needlewheels. Setup caveats are similar to becketts. Keep the exit gatevalve above the sump water level. Clean the injector (the port where the water enters) regularly. Don't go for a super dry skimmate. Accept a somewhat "watery" skimmate and you'll have fewer performance fluctuations. It's "ok". It works.

I dunno. I ran the EV240 with external pumps. I in general avoid submersibles so, I can't really comment on the rio HF.
