PM skimmers are fine. They are beckett style units so have typical beckett performance. DO NOT skimp on the pump. It's very, very important to use a true pressure rated pump that is in the league of an iwaki 55-70 to get the best performance out of this skimmer.

In testing the small beckett skimmers earlier this year I tried some without using the Iwaki. You might try using an equivalent flow rated RIO Hyperflow.

It was quieter and you could actually upsize the recommended flow rate and get a little better performance.

I hate noise generating pumps and tanks --So the Hyperflow was a quiet and inexpensive solution.
