  • BK acting up

Hey guys i got a couple frags yesterday and proceeded to use some epoxy to glue them down....

now i have used alittle epoxy here and there, but i used about 3/4 to 1 tube of the stuff called aqua mend.....

now the skimmer is going crazy, haha.

i let it run for about 2 hours with the water draining back into the tank. then i tuned it way down but the bubbles are HUGE.

i plan on doing a water change later today, but when could i expect the skimmer to be back to normal?

    thanks

    Nick

Yep, that is completely normal. The chemicals in the epoxy affect the surface tension of the water. My skimmer is usually back to normal after a few hours. BTW, don't waste your hard earned money on the stuff they sell at the fish store. You can get the same stuff at your hardware store for 1/2 the price. I often go through 2-3 tubes at once, so it pays off to get the cheaper stuff.

Nick, nevermind what I wrote about the epoxy. I just realized aquamend IS the stuff you get at the hardware store. :icon_redf

                Nick,

Do you mind posting some pictures of your ceramic mini-reef as well as the pillars? I have contacted 2 different dealers that have them listed on their websites but don't actually have pictures of the items nor have they the items in stock.

Hey do a search under my name for threads i started then go to my 275 gallon tank thread and read through it, you will see some pics in there.

right now they are really starting to look like LR with about 85% of the diatoms gone.

i need to do an update maybe sometime this week, look out for it.

Dang man, you still have diatoms on those reef ceramics? How long have they been in your tank now? I wonder if they should be cured for a couple months first or somehting.

Yeah they are still there alittle. ideally they should be cured first i would think, but in my case i didnt have the time.

but they are looking sweet now that they are starting to look like LR. coraline is starting to grow and they look alot darker than the "white" they came in as. i am happy with them.
