Just wanted to ask, what are the differences between the two (ie needle impellers).Deltec is well known here in the UK, but H&S is virtually unknown.Any info would be much appreciated.

They are very similar. H&S in the US anyways is somewhat cheaper. H&S units use wedge pipes for flow control, Deltec uses ball valves. H&S uses grey pvc parts, Deltec uses black abs. For larger units Deltec offers the self cleaning head option. I don't think H&S offers anything like that til you get to the insanely huge skimmers.10x3x2 FOWLR (for now)

You can't go wrong with either. They look, are built and perform very similarly. There are a couple threads over on RC that show how closely they are related (the histories/heritages of the companies). I believe they share the patent on the needlewheel - there's an interesting thread on that also.
I remember reading some threads on ultimatereefs of Europeans who had used them both.
I've owned a few H&S skimmers and have been impressed. I've seen a few Deltecs and have been equally as impressed. Really a toss-up IME.
