  • Connecting an Ozonizer to a External Bubble King

OK, here’s my next question. I bought a Red Sea Ozonizer that I would like to connect to the air intake of the Red Dragon pump on my Ext. BK 250. I assume the most logical place to connect it is at the top of the Silencer. Is that correct?

If so, my next question is since Ozone is known to degrade Silicone, do they make an Ozone safe tube (like Neoprine) with a ID large enough that can replace the current silicone tube? (What is the ID of that tube anyway?)

If not, can I order that tube in bulk from a BK Reseller?

    TIA!!!

    Anyone have the answer???

The connection spot is correct IF you don't have it filled with carbon, BUT if the ozonizer is too restrictive you will have cavitation problems (I'm guessing) and not enough air flow. My understanding is that there is a "T" piece that goes somewhere for the ozonizer. The silicone tubing is available in bulk I believe.

Can we get clarification? I was planning on running ozone on mine also, but would do it at the expense of airflow.

I have talked to Klaus how to connect a ozonizer to the skimmer. Here is what he has told me:

There are T-connectors available which can be ordered. Klaus told me he will ship two of them with his next shipment to Gary. The air intake hose of the skimmer has a 10 mm diameter and the T-connector a 6 mm outlet which is used to connect the ozonizer. The T-connector must be connected in front of the air intake nozzle. It is recommended to use a small air pump with around 50 gallons to blow the air through the ozonizer in the skimmer nozzle.

It is important to not connect the ozonizer directly through the 10 mm air intake hose. This will lower the performance of the Red Dragon (air) up to 80 %. The pump will also need much more electricity.

If a ozonizer is connected, the 10 mm air intake hose should not be used directly, just with a bypass.

Klaus promised to post pictures at the weekend.

Gary: Can I have dibs on one of those connectors?

Is there any way to run ozone safely other than thru the skimmer, and still get good results? I'd hate to reduce the efficiency of my skimmer, especially with only one pump.

                Thanks,

                David

Hi David, sure, Coralife among others makes an 02 concentrator, whereby you can run a air-stone off your ozonizer. This is a higher concentration of 03 delivered to one's tank so one would recommend an Aero-luft made by Tetra which has a rheostat to control air flow. I believe TFP sells the concentrators, & PA the air-pumps, Bob

Hello. I'm still waiting for the pictures and/or the t-fitting. Has anyone connected an Ozonizer to their Bubble King yet?

Is there any other way to use an Ozonizer without connecting it to a skimmer?

                          Thanks.
