RD used as skimmer pump for Aerofoamer 830 ?

Hi all.

The Red Dragon Pump would be able to work on Aerofoamer 830 beckett skimmer ?

I know the RD pump isn't pressure rated, but in the end, I only need about 1100-1800gph.

Can this be done or do I absolutely have to go with a pressure rated pump ?

FYI, we have a reefer here that tried using a RD (4500l/hr or 6500l/hr not sure which one) on an Aerofoamer 830 and the pump burned out after a couple of months. It can be a case of coincidence of faulty unit or could be a case of too much back pressure burning out the pump. Now, he is using an Iwaki MX70 to drive the Aerofoamer.

If you want something quiet try one of the new sequence unos. The RD is really a flow pump.
