Mike, good post!!! Finally someone who can compete against Deltec. I have always been amazed at the SCH. A very good selling point.

      its definitely a different design!

HMMMMMM... this guy here used the "Aquakat" on a ATK skimmer instead. Is this universal to most skimmers? Unless he made it?

Skimmer: the skimmer is a ATK EA 45 500. It has been rebulid so the water exits is larger and the skim cup higher so it is easier to adjust. I have also made an "aquakat" which has water running on the inside of the pipe to avoid dirt from setting. I have also created a drain with direct access to the sewer.

Looks like its been out for a while.. just never seen it around much. People have tried to copy this and it looks somewhat easy.

The Schuran thing is an add on wet neck. Different than what Deltec uses. Deltec uses mechanical brushes and then sets up a fresh water rinse and surge of the collection cup to make the thing truly maintenance free. On the other hand, the wetneck I believe is supposed to have superior properties ie generating skimmate. Something about the wetneck vs just a clean neck.

Klaus can make a SCH, but I shudder to think of what it would cost...the Deltec one cost me an arm making the skimmer an arm AND a leg. The BK I have scheduled for delivery is about an arm and a half so I'm running out of body parts...

From what i've heard, Klaus has been building self cleaning heads for a while, but he's not a big fan of them and that's why we never see them on his skimmers.

yeah, I'm gonna run the BK head to head with most likely an AP703. The AP 703 will have a SCH. I am contemplating either putting the AP702 on my office tank (literally a 55g tank) or maybe, just maybe putting it on the open market.
