  • Insump Skimmers - Question(s)

How much water should an insump skimmer sit in? How much is too much?

What are some good skimmers to handle 150-200gs? My tank is actually going to be 60g with perhaps a 20g sump, but like most ZEOusers, I want to overskim.

    Sean,

Water depth kind of depends on skimmer brand, my Euro's work real well with 9 inches of water, but I suppose each one has its own sweet spot.

I woud recommend a euro for that size system, but if money is no object, and if you can work out more room in the sump, maybe the BK, or Deltec would do the trick.

You know, I might just go with a Euro, do you really feel it competes with the rest?

        Sean,

I would definatly not knock a euro, price and ease of set-up is money well spent, just upgrade on their size guide..

Your size tank, I would think a CS8-1 would be great...A re-circ would even be better........

You may also want to look into a H&S 150-F2001.
But I am kinda partial to them

Ok, I guess I've got some reading to do.

                    Euro, ASM, H-S.

I guess it'll come down to which I can find the best deals on.

                    Thanks for the link aquarist!

Where's a good place to shop for Euros and ASMs?

For Euro check Marine Depot. I am not sure about ASM, I am pretty sure I can get those from one of my dist. though.

Aquarist, it's not urgent, but when you get a chance, could you check? It's going to be a couple months before I buy but I'd prefer the ASM (it's nice to my wallet)

Nick, if you're looking at pinwheels, check ER & H&S. Alexander used a H&S on his 300g until recently, when he received the B-K Bob
