  • Have you ever used Tunze Skimmer?

I think Tunze Skimmer is not popular in US, my country either..

In my country's reefclub, there was a question about the tunze skimmer.

Have you ever used Tunze Skimmer?

    just wondering...

I have used Tunze's on several different set-ups. Tunze skimmers are set-up to skim differently than most other skimmers on the Market. You generally get a much lighter skimmate than other skimmers, but are plankton safe. I generally use them if I am setting up a tank with a refugium. They have new models coming out that can be either flow thru or plankton safe, and I would wait for them to hit the market. It gives you more options. The airflow rates on the Tunze's are impressive for that small of a package. I would choose a Tunze before any of the current HOB skimmers on the market.

I have a 235/3 and 3160. I have run the 3160 on a 125 with other skimmers and it holds its own with the APF600 or MR2 I have paired it up with. I think the only down side is that it isn't designed to pull tons of material out fast like the MR2 or Deltec. That being said it kept chugging away day after day pulling stuff out.

I have used a couple of every Tunze skimmer out there...........including Derek's(my old one). They offer low energy consumption, easy to clean, and for their size do very well. They though are not powerful IMO skimmers. They are steady consistent performers that when used on smaller tanks to very well.

              tunze skimmers

Tunze has revamped their skimmer line. The new units are in production now. I do not know when we will see them here in U.S.
