  • Skimz ZAR-127 and flow

    Hello all,

I have a 139g tank and currently using the Skimz ZAR-127 to move my zeolites. I am currently using the 3rd preset mode 0.9l option, but was wondering if anyone else has this unit, and which option you use? I believe this unit also has a 2x mode, which I assume 2x the flow? Do you guys use this option? Thanks

I do not have experience with this reactor but basically I would recommend to measure the flow as the ZeoVit material itself does reduce the flow massive. Flow should be 400 liters per hour for each 1 liter ZeoVit.

Assuming the flow rate they provided is correct. The third setting will be too slow for you tank size (they probably tested it without the media inside the reactor so your actual flow rate might be even less than what they stated) . I have the zar157. When you put it under x2 mode do you notice the auto flush function not working properly anymore?

Thanks. Currently i was doing 180L/h. but i just did 2x, to do at least 360. Any anything, ill change to flow 4, if needed.

dbq5anlxj I haven't really used the 2x too much yet, but from what i saw, when i did a manual flush when 2x was active, it worked, but after the flush, it reverted the flow back to 1x. I have to change it back to 2x

Yup when you use manual flush the thing you described happens. Like I said when using auto flush with x2 mode the reactor will not flush properly .you can try that with the 1 hour flush mode see how it goes.

I increased the flow to use the 2x on th 0.9L, and started to see my nitrates finally drop below 5ppm. So far so good. I might switch to flow 4, 2x so its 480 L/H. That equals to about 126g, which my tank is 130g. Going to make that switch after 2 weeks so it doesnt shock the system

Sounds like a good plan, for the net water volume of 130 US gallons ~ 500 liters per hour would be ideal, a little bit less or more does not cause issues.

Isn't 500Liters 132 gallons per hour? Isn't the recommended about 100? Or is 500 Liters still good?

It is and 500 liters so good if the net water volume of your system is 500 liters and you have 1.25 liters ZeoVit in your reactor.
