  • CO2 Regulator Giving Electric Shock When Touched???

    Hi All,

Finally fired up the Schuran JS1 and so far love it. Only issue we are having is with the M3 Regulator we got brand new from ReefGeek for this setup. When the regulator with the electronic solenoid is plugged in it gives off an electrical shock when I touch the needle valve. The regulator is not wet or anything noticable not right with it. When the CO2 is open, releasing CO2 into the reactor, it gives less of a shock then when the CO2 is not being released into the reactor.

Any ideas what may be the cause of this? Think it might be a faulty regulator? This is my first experience with a Calcium Reactor and it's setup.

    Thanks!
    Scott

Sounds like a bad solenoid. I would call reefgeek and see if they will send you another one.

If at first it doesn't fit get a bigger hammer - Beat to fit paint to match

With electric shock... do you mean little finger prick from stray voltage or KABOOM like when you touch an exposed mains cable?

If it's the first is it plugged into a properly grounded socket?

        ..................Duhh Stop touching it !!!

Its the newest in Reef technology. The engineers know the less we mess with the tank the better the stability, and the better the tanks do.

This is just a first in a series of new products coming out to help keep reefers from messing with their system.

Wait till you try the new ebo heater -- It will knock you on your tush if you try to adjust your temp too much.

            Hi,

Orion - It is the first just some stray voltage, not even enough to make my hair on my arm lift up

The regulator/solenoid is plugged into a pH controller (Reef Fanatic Micro Controller) and that is plugged into a properly grounded outlet.

            Thanks,
            Scott

I love it! Where can I find a training regulator?

Does the solenoid have a 3 pin plug and do you also get shocked when you plug it directly into a grounded wall socket?
