  • Ozone Reactor

After trying to figure out the best way to connect a Red Sea Ozonizer to my BK 250 external, I've decided to go the Ozone reactor route.

I thought this would be the best way to inject ozone into my system because there really isn't a pretty way to place carbon on top of the BK250's collection cup to neutralize the escaped ozone. Also, I won’t have to worry about the tube degradation on the skimmer or affecting the optimal air intake of the Red Dragon.

I found this Ozone Reactor and it looked like a really well thought-out and built reactor:

The SR-7 in the diagram is their smallest media reactor which is supposed to be filled with carbon. There is also a carbon air filter that will neutralize any escaped ozone gas. IMO, it looks like in using the carbon reactor and air filter will ensure no ozone will escape and kill the beneficial bacteria in the sand bed and rocks. I won’t have to worry about the ozone killing me either!

The only problem is that all three units, the ozone and carbon reactors and air filter, are a little pricey. The total is over $500.

Do you guys think it is worth it?

I use ozone but its not an absolute (r optional fo the spelling impaired like me). I like it but the whole reactor route is too much trouble. I'd just get the ozone adapter for the BK. That's what I'm gonna do.
