Has anyone ever tried Aqua Medic Hydrocarbonate in a calcium reactor?

    http://www.aqua-medic.de/cgi-bin/php...ng=en&cat_id=4

It comes in 12-15 mm grade, which is a good size for Schuran Jetstream. This might be a good clean PO4 free media

I have used it the last 5 years in my AquaMedic Calcium Reactor, it does ok, but is can turn to mush with too much co2. I have since swithched to the Schuran Media, and have not seed much change, but I run my effluent ph at 6.7

It has less residue than ARM, but can still mush up on you with too low of PH.

'Mush up' is when the media turns to 'Mud'. ARM is well-known for that and you have to be careful not to run it at too low a PH or it will turn to 'mud' easily. Nasty stuff.

With the use of Oceanic[high Ca/Mg], one can operate the CR at a higher pH, therefore, the ARM or other Ca media does not become layered thick in mush creating little channeling. Bob
