  • DIY BioPhos 3 Reactor...

the zeoFairy visited today and dropped off some BioPhos 3

Being the DIY freak that I am, this is what I came up with to put it in:

The cup is holding 1/4 cup of media, the cup unscrews for easy changing, I plan on making another cup so I can just swap them out to change the media.

    sump pic:

    enjoy,
    rich.

Yeah Von, I stole that idea from invincible569 ... just remember to place the probe in gently and don't drop it in, oh well, it was time for a new probe anyway.

the top is a 3/4" slip x 1/2" threaded "T", this cut down and glued to the top of the "kitchen spray hose guide" (really just a 1/2" bulkhead) the media cup screws into the bottom of the bulkhead. The corner shower basket is turned upside down and with a few cuts of the jigsaw becomes the perfect little corner sump shelf..

hey invincible569, how often do you change media ? do you bother testing it or just change it regularly ? Do you notice any colour change when it's done ?

I change mine out when it changes color. I have noticed that it darkens after a couple of weeks. Not sure if it changes color because its fully absorbed or becasue of something else. In between my change out, I also pump the mini handle up/down to mix and loosen and debris that may be halting the PO4 absorbption. Let me know if you see this color change too so we know its just not my tank.

oops, I broke all the pics in this thread in the process but I finished writing up how to make your own PO4 Rx.

check it out and let me know if you have any questions.
