Problem with my reactor!!

I built a reactor out of an old berlin skimmer along the lines of the grotech reactor, nothing too fancy but when i try to plunge the plunger it just wont budge! Nothing is catching that i can see but i just cant work out why!! I know its pretty vague but has anyone come across this on their DIYs and if so how can i put it right??

Hi Gary, usually it's because the very small stones get between the disc & sidewall of the reactor. Try turning off the reactor pump, then turn it back on immediately, hoping to dislodge the pebbles. One can try turning off the pump, physically shaking the reactor, & try moving the rod plunger in a twisting fashion, to dislodge the podge Bob
