  • Best pump ...

I know ... RD ... but I'm looking for 2 pumps. Although I'd like to say price isn't really an object - RD might be a little too expensive. But here is what I need. Maybe you uber reefers can recommend something else ...

Requirements for both - low heat transfer, energy efficient, QUIET, external

    - Return pump - 500-600 GPH at 5' head , will run 24/7
    - CL pump (feeds Oceans Motions Squirt) ~ 1,000 GPH at 0' head. This pump will run only during photoperiod, will be on Aquatronica which I believe has soft start feature

Is there any other do it all pump not as expensive as the RD? I've read all the threads on pros/cons, are there any not heard of, high quality pumps?

There is a RD pump that does ~1,100GPH but I'm afraid it will be more like 1,300+ with U.S. electricity.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You may want to take a look at Sequences new UNO line,

i have a 4 darts and am 100% happy, very quite only uses 160w, but i think they move too much water for what you are looking for.

like i said the UNO line may be what you want.

GRI 510 for your return. Quiet, reliable reasonable on the electrical side. I think really the best choice for your return pump.

For your closed loop--if some noise is acceptable than either an iwaki 40 or the panworld equivalents. Otherwise...you know what I'm gonna say. After all I own 4 of 'em counting the skimmer.

I run the small GRI on my return and am 100% happy w/ it. To date the best return pump I have owned. What kind of pump is Tunze coming out with? I would imagine it would be of good quality.
