  • Which moves more water?

I need to do some plumbing on the drain system of my prop tank. I need to run about 600 gph. I have 2- 1" bulkheads for overflow. Will 2 - 1" lines drain more than a single 1 1/2"? I can either combine both one inch lines into a single 1 1/2", or run 2 1" lines. There will be a 4' long horiziontal run to the sump in the house, and only about 8" of fall. I know not the best scenario, but it's what I got.

    TIA

To be safe, 2 would be better than one in case something gets stuck in one. Will the 2 1" holes combine into 1? or will they both run separate all the way to the sump?

1.5" maxes out around 1500 gph
      1" maxes out around 600gph.

I was thinking, if I combined them it would be into 1 1/2". Separately, I would run them all the way to the sump. I have to cut another hole in the wall anyway, so it doesn't really matter. I am feeding with a Mak4 rated at 1190 gph, it runs through my chiller then to the frag tank, and gravity feeds into the first section of the sump, so I think I would be safe either way. According to the head loss calc. approx. 730 gph.

        Thanks

I personally would have 2 separate lines back to your sump instead of joining them together. Helps prevent a single point of choke/failure.
