  • Plumbing Returns and Intakes - Closed Loop.

Should I consider a value on each return and each intake? Or should I pair it off...etc?

Just trying to figure everything out about my new cube before I get it and go out and buy parts.

Which value is best for these situations? Balls, Gate..etc

    Any input is much appreciated!

    Thanks,

I woudln't worry about a Ballvalve on your intake, the last thing you want is that necking down to cause cavitation. If you need to control the flow you can do it w/ the return lines. I put a ballvalve on each of my return lines works like a charm but I'm sure you will have them wide open

Unless you want to be able to remove the pump for cleaning without draining the water level below your intake bulkhead.

Every bulkhead should be followed by a ball valve and a union. Also, every pump should have a ball valve and union on the intake and outlet side - the union should be closest to the pump, then the ball valve. Doing it any other way will cause you a lot of headaches in the long run.

Mike's advice is exactly what I am doing - will save lots of trouble in the long run.
